Default What is my 08 RKC worth?

I am thinking of selling my 08 RKC, ABS, Cruise Control, stage I, back rest, 9,xxx miles......

I have someone coming to look at it tonight and I told I would sell it for $14,000 cash. Do you think this is a fair price? KBB retail price is $16,300 but I think that is too high in this market.

KBB is rarely a reliable value. It takes into consideration a dealer selling or buying, and then when you ask a dealer they state they do not use KBB if they are buying from you, but when they resell they tell you they are using it.

Either way look at it this way. If you can get what you want, sell it. Most people over estimate what their bike is worth. If you take your buy price and knock off 25% as depreciation as soon as you drove it off the lot, you'll be amazed. Look at what some of the comparable bikes in your area are getting and base your price from there.

Real honestly HDs have taken a beating on the used market lately. I picked my Ultra up for under 14K an it was immaculate, with 4 years remaining on the warranty. This is a bike the original owner invested 32K into. But money talks, when financials are needed.

Like any other commodity, they are only worth what some one else is willing to pay for it. That leaves a lot to the imagination. Dealers know that if you come to them to sell, you most likely need to get out from under a payment. If you come to them looking to buy a newer model, you want it more than they need to sell. They work you.

Selling on the private market, it depends on the desperation of seller or buyer. As long as you get what you want/need out of it, don't worry about being beat out of a deal. But if you are selling out of desperation, do be careful not to let that show.

NADA is a better source in determining value. It will give you a range between low retail and average retail. You can also do a trade value if you want. This is what NADA showed for your bike.
Low Retail $14,300
Average Retail $16,431
Trade In Value is around $12,200

I would say you have it priced about right at $14k considering the economy. Kinda depends on how bad you need the money.

Its worth everything to you and nothing to anyone that wants to buy it. The same statement gets reversed when you try to purchase something.

Thanks for looking that up for me! I don't need the money just looking for a change and a good home for a great bike.

How do you get that value? Do you have to be a subscriber to the business part of NADA?
