I was looking at seats and several on the forum like the sundowner for the road king. Why are they so popular. Any comments from owners of sundowner seats would be appreciated.
I have the sundowner solo and it pushed me way too far forward. I had to modify it so I could sit back further. The passenger pillion is not comfortable according to the wife. It looks a lot different than the one piece so it probably sits different too.
It has lower back support and you can put a backrest on also. The wife and daughters love the passenger seat. Great for the long rides or the short runs. I highly reccomend it. +1
it's softer on the butt. The leading edge is narrower than stock which makes it easier for you to put both feet flat on the ground. Altogether, lowers about 1/2 inch which doesn't seem like much but coupled with the narrower forward end makes a big difference. Another big plus is the passenger portion is much wider and softer than the stock saddle. I'm replacing mine with the new 'signature solo' so I will I won't need mine soon. It's currently on an '09 RKC.
Hope this helps.

I hate the way it looks compared with the stock seat but that thing is really comfortable. I've ridden with mine from Florida all the way to New Mexico and back. Also recently took it to Key West and back in total comfort. For $250 buck (Chicago H-D) I don't think you can really go wrong. For around town trips I keep the stock seat on.
