Default Another Harley touring tire question

I'm not sure when the tire size change happened on the later model Harley touring scoots and which models were affected. What I want to know is, are there any different opinions about tire mileage with the OEM tires on '09 Ultra Classic not counting the handling difference compared to before tires sizes changed? It was only the rear tire that was changed?

The 09s and later touring range have a new frame and new wheels at both ends. Front tyre is: 130/80x17 and Rear is: 180/65x16.

Gr....Well said.
Bikes....everyone that I know, including myself that runs OEM Dunlops gets OK or if not Great mileage.
My buddy's that run other mfr's tires brag up the mileage they are getting....but I think it's equal to mine 10K to 15K.

I had an 04 ultra & now have an 09 ultra & I can tell you that I get a lot more miles on the rear tire than I did before. 04 uc rear tire mileage about 10-12K. The 09 uc has 14.5K on it now & still has good amount of tread left.

I've gotten about 17.5k out of my rear tire on my 09 Ultra. Had a screw in first one at 2k and now sitting at just over 19.5k and waiting on new tire to come in from zanotti. I'm about out of tread along the center but have tread along the sides. lol if we had more curves in NW florida I might have gotten a few more miles out of it.

Sounds like the dual compound tires on the 09-10 bikes does give better mileage?
At least on the rear.

I like Whitewall tires but I don't like the skinny very narrow original WW tires on my Ultra Classic. Does anyone offer a front 130/80x17 and rear 180/65x16 with a Whitewall that wider than my stock tires but not as wide as the WWW on my RKC? I don't need tires now but I want to find a source ahead of time.

I got 13,000 out of my OEM tires on my 08 Ultra which I thought was pretty good. I did switch to Venoms, and will see how long they go for me. I love the way they ride.

I got 6500 miles outta my first set of D407s on the 09.

Second set got 7000, but they still had some life left in them. I wanted them off my bike as they were so feathered and completely useless, the rear was extremely squirmy post apex at full throttle, moving around with predictability of a frog in a sock. Both front and rear were heavily feathered.

I have just put metzlers on, not the original sizes, and have done about 10 miles around the block as a commissioning ride.

The difference is stunning. If the rain holds off I am going up to the drags tonight and I will do up a full report with pics over the weekend...
