I keep it. Chances are you can take of the aftermarket stuff and sell it for more than if you leave it on the bike, assuming you sell down the road. You wont get a whole lot for stock parts
+1 on that
If you have the space keep it, because one aftermarket part is likely get you more than most of the original parts combined
I keep some stuff around, mainly smaller parts as lenses, trim rings and so on but have already shipped old wheels, pipes etc. off. Didn't plan on reusing felt someone else may so ebay'd the stuff as I could.
My dealer kept all parts I replaced when I bought new. I got to thinking I may want them, went back to get em and they already got rid of em......????? Oh well it probally just save me some space. Kept my original wheels and tires though, in case I sell or trade.
I have almost enough parts to build a complete motor, just need cases and a few minor things. I tried selling most of them and couldn't get any interest so I'll be looking for maybe a '99 road king thats beat to crap and needs a motor. When I sell my '03 ultra.,,
I take back everything from the dealership. They resale your take off parts overseas. Thats what the parts guy told me. We only got on that subject because i needed a stock convex right mirror. And he had to sell me one instead of giving me one of the take offs he had in stock. When he told me they resell the take offs and make a killing over seas I almost got sick to my stomach. From here on out, I keep all my stuff and sell it to you guys for next to nothing or slang it on ebay. Id rather make $10 off of it or give it away than to give it to any dealership or custom shop because they are only going to resale it after they sell it the first time.
Think about this....
If you ever plan to trade your bike in for another, you will want to put back on as many stock parts as possible.
They dont give you anything for your mods
