Default 2010 Roadglide Headlight assembly

I was reading some info from H-D about the 2010 Roadglide having a new headlight assembly which allows changing/replacing a headlight bulb without having to remove the fairing. To be sure a clever idea that a light bulb change shouldn't require disassembly of half the bike.

Does anyone here on the forum have any practical knowledge or experience with the new 2010 headlight assembly, and if an earlier Roadie (an 08) can be retrofitted with the 2010 assembly, or if others have come up with a modification to allow easy nheadlight changes.

I am doing the Hoka Hey and trying to stream line any and all potential on the road repairs.

See attached. It claims it is not recommended to retrofit, but that is only because of the hardened headlamp assembly. You could replace the headlamp assembly with the hardened ones or leave it and wait and see if a rock takes out a light and then replace.

Dawg: Do you happen to know the part# for the 10' headlight assembly? I had changed from the bubble to the SE bezel last year and had no problems for the entire 09 riding season. Would love to be able to change h/l bulbs that easy.

Ive been running without the bubble for a year now and without issue. Fankly bubble or no is not my quest. Removal of the bubble or benzel never did (past or present) require removal of the fairing. Only the light bulb repalcement did.

So back to the original question can the 2010 headlight assembley be installed on an earlier year Roadie fairing, or has the actual fairing been modified for the new assembly??

See attached for the 2010 pn#'s. Yes it can be retro fitted as there were no changes to the fairing design other than the bracket and supports which that hold it on.

There would be in the parts book, but I don't have access to that at present.

Yes, a parts diagram would be helpful. My dealer ordered a 2010 headlight bezel, part #73250-10. It replaces the bubble. A 2009 screamin eagle bezel, part #69987-09 (same part, different finish) costs $40. This 2010 piece costs only around $10. Dawgs parts list shows two different headlight bezel part numbers. 67959-10 and 73250-10. Something tells me my dealer ordered the wrong number.

I got excited about not having to pull the fairing off to change bulbs, so I went to my dealer to check on that mounting plate. They found it in their parts catalog but couldn't explain how the plate solved the problem. When they showed me their "blow-up" from the catalog, it still looked like the 3 adjusters slipped through the front part of the fairing like mine (2008). Can you explain what's different from my 2008 that would allow the replacement of the bulbs. I'm probably just too thick headed to figure it out from their pictures - Thanks!
