Default Question about King Tour Pack for 07 Road King

Hello everyone......I'm trying to buy a used king tour pack for my 07 RK, from a friend that had one on his 2003 Road King. I went to a Local Dealer to buy the docking hardwre for it, but they said the tour pack will not fit my bike.
Is there any differance between the 1997-2005 Tour-Pak and the 2006-2007? Will it fit my 2007 or not? If so, which docking hardware will I have to get? there is 2 different ones I see on the catalog. 53804-06 or 53276-04. I also have a sissy bar that I will use for around town. So I need the hardware to support both different ways.

Thanks in advance for your help

J

Need more info, does it have have the detachable rack with the tour pack already? The early detach racks are different than the later ones but I believe they will interchange, they both use the same detach hdwe on the bike. To run both a detach tour pack & a backrest you need 2 rear mounts on the bike & both use the same front mount. I think you need 53804-06 & 53803-06, 53276-04 is the new style detachable rack itself. Hopefully Dawg will chime in, the detach hdwe seems to fool even some of the parts guys themselves, I don't trust some of the people they hire cause they don't know as much about Harleys as most on this forum.

yes.....it has the detachable rack already. All I needed to mount on my bike was the docking hardware.
And I agree with you about some people not knowing at the dealers. Thats why I'm bringing the question here to this forum.

The Tour Pack itself will work. I too bought a Tourpak off a 2003 RK for installation on my bike. Prior to the purchase, I detachable passenger backrest with luggage rack installed. I left the detach mounts for the passenger back rest installed. I added the rear mounts out of the kit P/N 53804-06 so the 2 up detachable tourpak rack would also fit. This is assuming you have the older style tour pak rack that is made from round tubing. I am not sure if the new style rack will work as I am describing.

I now have the luxury to pop off the tourpak and throw on the pass. back rest, or just leave both off.
