I just got my 14" apes from HCC last Friday and put them on Saturday. They are the HCC brand, and they look EXACTLY like the Wild 1's. The only difference is the pullback. Being vertically challenged at 5'8, I opted for the 14's and love em. Just my .02....Will try and post a pic tomorrow....

thanks buddy.
I'm leaning towards 18s for the same reason you did, cheaper to downsize than to go bigger. My biggest concern is 8" or 12" pullback. I have no idea which will fit best

If you can wait a few weeks I'll let you know on pullback. The hcc dealer told me the hcc bars don't come back any less. They just make your wrist position a little more straight.

I might have to give HCC a call. Don't know if I can wait a few weeks or not. Straighter wrist position is supposed to be more comfortable right? Hell anything has to feel better than stock road king bars. Are the HCCs any cheaper than the wild1s?

i don't know if customer service is important to you but the guy i talked to at hcc was cool. i was trying order 1" bars because that's all i saw. i wanted 1 1/4 but i didn't see them so i decided to compromise. he wouldn't let me order the 1". he helped me navigate the web site to find the 1 1/4 bars and took my order right over the phone.(you have to hold the cursor over "handlebar kits" and "bagger kits" drops down. i was never patient enough. i was just clicking handlebar kits.

i have ordered a lot of parts in the last week. most guys want to get you off the phone and have you order off the website. some even charge extra to take your order on the phone. hcc has been a good experience so far. as long as the parts come on time and the quality is good, i will recommend hcc to anyone.

So i know this is a little older thread, but I finally decided and ordered bars myself. My buddy had a set of 16 wild 1s that i mocked up on the bike, but they were too tall. Im only 5'6". So I decided that 14's would be good. I called HCC and ordered cables, brake lines, bushings and one piece top clamp. Great guy, very informative and took time to answer questions.

As far as the bars, I called up Carlini Design and ordered some flying apes. I love these bars and had to have them. I told the guy my story about the 16's, and that I wanted 14's and he said that his 12's, were really like 14's and 14's are really like 16's, so on and so forth.

So after a long conversation with the guy at Carlini I ordered 12's. Should be here sometime next week. Im excited to get them, hopefully I went with the right size bars.
