do i have this right about installing cams
Sorry to start another thread on this cam subject seems as though it is all everyone is talking about during this long cold winter. I think i have read every thread that has talked about this and believe it or not i think i am more confused now than before. So here is where i am at i have an 06 street glide with the spring loaded tensioners from what i have read the gear drive cams are the way to go as long as my crank dont have too much runout which is .003. if everything is ok withthe runout i can replace the cam suport plate with a SE plate which then i would be able to install the hydraulic tensioners if runout is more than that i just have to go back with the spring loaded tensioners and the cams that are not gear drive. i am wanting low end torque so i have narrowed it down to the woods tw6-6 andrews 26g or the hq0034 cams any info on all of this would be greatly apppreciated and i also apologize for beating this subject to death

If the runout is ok and you want gears, I don't think you don't need a new cam support plate. Just ditch the tensioners all together. If runout is a concern, do the switch to the new hydraulic setup. From all accounts they have much, much better wear characteristics than the spring loaded setup. Not sure about the cost difference between gears and a hydraulic setup, but I'm thinking that gears are a tad more $$. OTOH, if you put in gears, that should be the last time you have to open the camchest (for a long time at least...)

You have 8.7:1 compression in your stock motor, which IMO is low enough to decrease the low-end with the cams listed without a compression increase. You might consider the TW21 if low-end TQ is your highest priority, although it will not produce the peak-HP numbers as those in your list. Cams that will not harm the low-end with stock compression are few and far-between.
