Default Different Tank Badge for Street Glide...

Has anyone replaced the "Harley Davidson" script badge on the Street Glide with a different tank badge (bar/shield, old style nostalgic badge from the FLs of the past, or something different?).

If so, curious to see pics. Also, how hard was it to remove the stock script tank badging?? The stocker looks fine, but thinking of putting on something different.

Thanks for the tips so far on my first bagger. I love the Rinehart True Duals, Stage 1, Dueler solo seat, and the minor dress up mods so far. Looking forward to warmer weather again, as I've only been able to put a few hundred miles since the new year. Snow heading toward Memphis it seems.

Thanks,

Karl

This is what I bought before I got laid off and will have put on when I can afford to get the bike re-painted, same color but different pin striping. It is 61-62 vintage and will look great with my planned theme. Look around and find what will suit your tastes. Best of luck!!!

Hmmm. Maybe I am bi-polar......

Yeah, I know what you mean.

The one like a star is the dumbest looking one they make; looks like a Seattle Mariners logo.
The dumb one from the Duo-Glide era is another bad one.
2002 Heritage was comical just like the stupid FatBoy ones.
Especially the ones with the red in them, don't remember the years....

I always liked the 62 tank badges, so I bought a set and mounted them up. Some people like em, some don't. (not a sock) lol. Easy to remove the old badges with some heat and dental floss.

Wink

Quite a few of us have used alternative emblems and decals, so there are plenty of options. I installed a recent 6 gallon tank on my 1990 bike, using the correct decals for my bike:

You must be young, the Mariners only adopted that traditional compass design in their logo, in about 1993.

The '61 - '62 Harley badge is known as the "gun sight".

I like it. The only downer about it is that it has been used too often

Most of the really old logos have aged well. Many of the new ones won't. I think they are churning out too many of them now, which smacks too much of 'identity crisis', chasing fads, and wanting to be liked for me (you don't see Audi or Jaguar changing their logo every other week). But not all of the older ones suit the highly polished look of the new bikes. They are too flat or tinny.

The classic bar and shield, black on chrome, is hard to beat. Timeless and conservative. (Like they used on the F-150).

Of the modern ones, the kind of thing I think would work well on a Street Glide is a Dyna one. They are polished, heavy and shiney enough for a big bike. I'm amazed by the price they ask for some of the CVO ones.

There's a few pages of them, here;

What color is your bike? I take it you don't want a transfer?
