arnott air ride system
#21
I've had the Arnott Bilstein's for several years without any problems. They do not have as good a ride (for me) as my stock e-glide shocks did but, a better ride than the SG shocks I had on. Even at over 6' tall, its nice to be able to lower the bike for those times when you have to push the bike backwards!

I just installed the arnott bilstein shock system last week on my Road King Custom. It was a very easy install and seems to work great. I have not been able to ride the bike due to the weather, melting snow and salt covered roads.
My only complaint was that all the wires had connectors already installed. It would have been nice if they just gave you the connectors so you could cut the wires to the length that you needed. I know I could still cut all the wires and buy new connectors, but the wires tuck nicely in a coil underneath the seat.

Pled, I did my research when looking at the Arnott's for my 07 SG. Some guys on here and some other forums all recommended in having a air guage installed in place of the useles air temperature gauge on the fairing. I talked to a guy who used this guage, I have no contact with this seller in any way, but it will give you the idea. Also, there are some ladies that have the Arnotts on SG's and RK's. good luckhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310108532584&viewitem= &sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I have had them on my bike for 3 years back when they were still using QA1 shocks. I got a great deal on them as they were just switching to bilstien. Mine have dampening adjustment which has been a big plus had to dial that in to control the rebound a bit turned it to 3 out of 12 settings. I have the gauge and the handlebar two button control. I do like the system and been across the country a couple times with it. I did re-plumb all the air lines with push lock nuematic fittings from all the threaded fittings that come with the kit. It is nice to lower the bike when walking it and parking it adjust on the fly for what ever my loading conditions are and road conditions. Just messing with the button on a rough road you will find a sweet spot every time and with the gauge I pretty much know where that is going to be.

Ok so I can get arnott air ride systems through my company at a very reasonable price however, I am not proven yet on either the bilsten or the aldan shock... Also i hear if you have an 18 inch wheel on your street glide people are recommending a 13 inch shock just in case of failure... anyone thoughts...
Help me out thanks

This is just my thought, I dont know anything about the truth in having an 18 inch rim, but I was thinking of leaving the stock "Y" piece in the bike, because Im sure the air lines are the same size, so worst case you can re hook the stock filler fitting to the air lines on the shocks and air them up at a gas station, so you can at least make it home safe.

A year ago I posted on this thread that I did not have them on my Ultra but on the V Rod. Since then I have put the 13"'s on the Ultra. I have a 18in wheel on the back and in full low mode, the wheel does not rub. There is probaly 2-3.5 inches of clearance between the top of the wheel and fender. If your worried about a blown line, you could carry a short line to swap out, could swap it out road side in about 5 mins. I think the lines to the shock are 1/8 OD. If I recall, the HD lines are thicker than that but it has been a while since I saw the stockers. Oh yeah, the ride is great. Not a good as a set of custom Ohlins that I had but a good shock none the less.
