I'm looking to buy a new Road King for hubby and won't buy without ABS. [Looking for 2009 FLHR] In my search I've learned that they're harder to find and more expensive....so if you buy for resale at all....go for ABS. Period.

On the same note, if going for Road King, I will say hard bags will net you more also. They resale better than the classics even though STD is less expensive. I find that interesting.

Peace.

Trish

I had the police-only abs on my bike. Took it off this spring. Maybe the Brembo unit works better, but I wasn't all that impressed with the Nissin ABS system.

It came with the bike. Had it on my last 3 bikes ( BMW's ). With or without wasn't a deal breaker. The color of my bike was more important. On all previous rides it never actuated.

for whatever reason if you ever have to slam on the breaks at highway speed - you'll be glad you have it.

Being able to steer under heavy emergency braking is a GOOD THING, for me anyway, I'm no pro, nor perfect, and know it.

now don't lecture on why that situation could happen ....

My '09 Ultra Classic already had ABS otherwise, I would not have paid extra for it.

My Ultra has ABS but it happend to come with the bike when I bought it,it startled me the first time it activated on a bumpy turn I didnt like it one bit kind of wish I didnt have it. I may get used to it in time but I sure wouldnt miss it if it wasnt there.

Might be worth checking if your software has been updated. I understand it makes the ABS less sensitive and might help in that sort of situation.

Came with my 08 RK.
Don't need it, don't like it at all, and wish I didn't have it.

- Adds unnecessary complexity thereby increasing chances of system failure.
- Makes servicing more complex and expensive.
- Makes buying parts more complex and expensive.

If you happen to have it, like it, or want it...
Good luck and best wishes.

All your rationalizations are incorrect. You might as well decide to eliminate electric start and fuel injection - either of which is more likely to cause problems. If the ABS were to have an issue, you would get a warning light and still have full braking.

Cool

Do not have...

Would get only if the Harley is like the Honda Linked Braking System or BMW ABS system...
