Thanks for your continued excellent work Jamie. I am also debating whether to use the 4* advance gear if I go with the TW6-6 cams.

You said it would only move the TQ curve to the left 300rmp.... but I consider that to be a significant difference. Cams coming on at 3000rpm compared to 2700rpm is noticably different - what do you think?

Personally, I do not think the +4 gear will make that much difference with stock compression. With the TW6-6 cams in my personal 09 it makes excellent power from idle on up. This was my main consideration for being satisfied with my original testing. But unless we test it, it's all assumption so its worth taking a look at.

I to was able to get out today and test ride mine aswell, I did the woods cams on my ultra and could tell the difference big time. Im gonna have to get it tuned though, I went through alot of fuel in a short distance but I was getting on it alot to see the power difference.
I did notice that I was getting a whining noise when I would come to a light and rev it up , Is this normal?
I replaced my plugs, cam plate with hydro. tensioners, and also did the self adjusting chain tensioner . could the noise be coming from one of these?
it almost sounds like the risistor or non resistor plugs would make in an old car if you know what I mean !!
but back to the cams they are awesome !!!!!

How much louder is the bike with the new cams compared to before? I'm about at my personal limit with the Jackpots (running a 1.75 baffle) on my bike and am concerned that a cam change make the Jackpots too loud for me. Power-wise, having to take the Jackpots off would really defeat the purpose of installing the cams.

I'm very happy for you, great work on the build and thanks especially for documenting everything for the rest of us. Glad your happy with your scoot and I'll look forward to your Stage 3 project in the fall.....it's coming.....you know it as well as I do. It's just what we do.....

When you set the compression ration to 10:1 to 10.2:1 they will really come alive. Do the 103" upgrade, and have your heads ported/polished and milled to set the CR...........you will be very happy.

It's going to be a little louder and deeper. So if you are at your limit now you may have to consider a different baffle or earplugs on longer rides. It's all subjective of course.

IMO the Woods cams kick in below 3,000 RPM. I think there is additional usable TQ at 2,000 RPM and above, and it just gets better from there. The nice thing about these engines is you can customize the TQ and Power curves many different ways.

Eariler this week I completed a 103 build on my 09 FLHX using TW6-6 cams, stock heads, .030 Cometic gaskets and I reused the stock pushrods. The squish is set right at .035 and the compression is just a pinch over 10:1. The bike runs great. Big big difference from stock. I changed the oil this morning and put about 100 miles on it and still have the smile on my face.
RDM. This is why this forum is so dangerous and expensive. Now I am going to have to start planning a 103 build!
