IMO, buy the bike, ride it and see how it performs. If it doesn't give you any trouble and you are going to keep it past the two year warranty, then look at buying one. You won't use the extended warranty the first two years anyway. They are a little more expensive then, but not that much.

I love wrenching on my own ride. Get the bike and a FACTORY service manual and do all your own servicing. You get to know your ride better that way! I plan too many mods after the 2 year is up so I would rather use the cost of the warranty to do my major engine work!

I agree with those posting above. Get a service manual. Save the extended warranty $$ and buy a lift and some tools. Get to know and trust an indy shop near you for the deep stuff. I loved working on my 06 WG. It's a nice feeling of accomplishment and after the money is spent, I still have the tools!
