painting inner fairings
would like to get stuff ready to do it this winter.
what type of paint do you have to use on the plastic...
what prep/sanding/primer?
can i get the Cobalt Blue paint mixed at an auto paint supplier...or from H-D...how much do i need?
i have a Sharp HVLP gravity feed gun
any advice appreciated

One of the first things I did back in '03 was to paint my inner fairing. I've received many favorable comments on the inner fairing paint from other RG riders and inquiries as to where I had it done. It was such a cool thing to do I figured MoCo would eventually offer painted inner farings for sale. They do offer the painted batwing inners painted but not the Road Glides .. however, I haven't seen a new 2007 parts catalog yet .. it's only a matter of time.

Ive hand carved teak wood for my center tank console and I hand painted the center of my inner fairing with acrylic water based paint to simulate wood grain to match console. I also sprayed it with a matt finish clear so there be no glare.

The hardest part seems to be disassembling it to take to the painter, then keeping it from getting scratched when you put it back in... at least on the FLHTs.
