The biggest thing affecting the thickness of the pillion is the screws that mount the TP to the rack. They stick out underneath the rack. I too the measurement from the top of the fender to the bottom of the bolts.

The kit came with bolt covers which will offer a little protection. The actual distance i measured for thickness is almost 3 inches, but I figure 2 3/4 will give you a little room to keep the bolts from rubbing against the pillion.

I don't have time now, but I can check my stock seat to see if the TP will fit over it.
Thanks JB

OK, snapped a few pics. The TP does go on with the stock seat, but i definately would not recommend it. Very tight fit.

I only had it set up for long enough to take a few pics. You can see in the pick below the TP was actually putting pressure on the seat. You can see the line.

I love this place... Thanks for the photo of the stock seat with the TP in place jb. I've been looking for just this kind of info.

I've got an '08 FLHX I'm taking to Sturgis and I picked up a TP for my wife to feel more secure on the back of the bike and have a little more room for storage. She's backed out of going but I'd still like to run the TP solo.

My seat is the Danny Gray short hop 2 up and is really low. It looks like there will be no issues. Very cool.
