Default Chrome or Polished SS bolts and screw???

I know that Chrome will rust if it gets scratched, but i Just can't decided on which one to go with. I have called several stores here in the greater Miami, FL area and noone has polished SS bolts. I have found chrome bolts at an ACE hardware. Anyone in the greater Miami area with info on where to go?CanI get some opinions on which to go with, please?

Thank you

Looking at changing the below hardware:
Derby cover screws
Timing cover/cam gasket screws
Handlebar switch houseing screws
Bolts for ABS Brake mount on front fork

2010 Street Glide

I changed ALL my bolts on engine and everywhere to chrome on my bike. This included primary cover, transmission top cover, transmission trap door, and transmission side cover, lifter blocks, timing cover, , cam chest cover, derby cover, passenger floorboard bolts, exhaust hanger bolts, and others I can't think of right now. If I could get to it, it got chromed. LOL

I bought mine from http://www.gardner-westcott.com/ Very reasonable pricing and shipping. Call Walter and tell him what you want.

No way was I using those hot-toppers nor those little "button" caps that fill in the ends of the bolts and the OEM bolts look like poo.

Stainless. Just make sure you check with the vendor that the strength of any critical fasteners is equivalent with the replacement parts you use. There's multiple types of stainless and they are not all the same strength.

I changed most of my fasteners to chrome on my 1992 Evo. Wish I hadn't once they started to rust - which seems almost unavoidable if you ever have to apply a tool to the heads.

Gardner-Westcott is probably one of the largest suppliers of stainless fasteners for motorcycles.

Thank you for the response, so how do you keep from chrome rusting when you install it, when the tool scratches it?

The same way you keep the polished stainless from oxidizing. Take care of it.

When I had a 90 Fat Boy I repalced all my hardware with stainless. I bought a kit I found in the Drag specialties catalog. The hardware always looked nice with a wash of the bike.
