Default Radio resets when i start the bike

My radio on my 08 UC often resets ( powers on/off ) when the radio is on and I start the bike. This is either poor electrical design and I know because I am an electrical engineer an I design mobile radios (police car radios) for a very large US company or it is a defect in a part.

My question to you friends is do you have the same problem? Thanks

Don't have a stereo on my RK but you are obviously losing power to the unit when you either turn off the the ignition or turn it on. Sounds like you know that with your experience. I only know it because of working in a car audio shop and of course disconnecting power/battery to my own vehicles. Sorry but can't help you as far as troubleshooting so I guess I just wasted our time....

My radio in my detachable fairing does the same.

Check your battery to starter connections. Maybe a loose starter bolt (bad ground)?
I had a bad positive cable, but it had different symptoms.

Ditto... if power isn't an issue it's probably connection.

When the ignition turns on the battery power drops so severely that it can cause a radio to reset. However, the radio electronics can be designed to compensate for that. You all have radios in your cars and it does not do that and it is the same exact situation.

I am tryiing to find out how many people have this issue.

It is probably because of the configuration (by design) of the ignition switch. Many switches are designed to cut power between positions.
I believe it happens in all my vehicles but won't worry about it enough to notice.
