Could not say it better! Even when they do require rebuilding not all are created equal. It is still worth every cent spent.

I have two dealers that work on my bike and both tell me the same thing, expect 100 - 110k miles before a rebuild is needed.
I've got a friend with a 75k mile b motor in his 03 Heritage. It runs strong, doesn't use any oil and sounds good. He went with gear drive cams at 30k. I can see him going to around 100k before rebuild. No reason to expect less from the newer stuff. As far as the cams not running on bearings, cars have been running that way for years with no problems. Working in a dealership, even in cases where maintenance was non existant, it was the bottom end (usually rod bearings) that went, the cam journals were fine.
