Wondered the same exact thing about the Tank Recall. RIP to the Officer.

Yes, it was the model with the recall. They mentioned it on the news and said the department had it scheduled to be serviced. Coroner said he died on impact so the fire played no part in his demise.
Local news reported on the gas tank recall and said Arlington PD wants a federal investigation. I wonder how HD recalls are handled in PD fleet situations.
With all due respect to the Arlington PD, they might think about maintaining a slightly lower profile since they were aware of the issue and let a vehicle out on the streets with a known defect.
Sounds like the MOCO did everything possible in this case and the dispatcher ignored the possibility of a problem but that seems to be irrelevant in any case since the coroner ruled that he died on impact.
Just my opinion from what I've read about this on the web.
