Nope. And would hate to ever get to that point.

 

I can understand the Sturgis thing. I have no desire to go to Sturgis or any other rally for that matter. I have been to a few and those things are just not for me. I have been riding for the better part of 40 years. Sometimes, I get tired of it and park mine for a few weeks or months but then the urge to ride always comes back. Riding is like anything else, if you do it alone, it gets boring.
My first Harley was a Super Glide and it was a fun bike but after I got married, the wife wanted to go more often and I traded for a Road King. I love it. It isn't quite as nimble as the SG but is a lot more comfortable and still fun to ride.

 

I totally get the Sturgis thing. I went to Daytona in '98 and swore, "never again". Those big rallies do nothing for me.

And you know, I get the bike thing too. To me, a touring bike is a tool for covering long distances. If I only had the Limited, I think I'd be jonesing for something else.

Ron, Move up here to Minnesota wher it is -19 below right now, Our riding season is about 6-8 months for the hardcore and 3-4 for the timid, then all ya do all winter is wrench on your bike and think about riding in the spring.

 

I agree with Jim. Take the lowers off also. You'll be surprised at the difference in feel of the bike. It probable would be cheaper than buying another bike. You probable could work out a trade with someone wanting to move up. Also you may want to take the advanced MC coarse or get the Ride Like A Pro video and get a better feel for handling a big bike.

Riding is not for everyone, just look at all the low miles on bikes. Rallies aren't for everyone so I wouldn't use that as a guide. I think alot of folks got caught up in the HD thing and then found out that it's not for them. I've been doing it for 45 years and hope I can still do it at 80.

 

I had the same feeling with an '07 Ultra I had (2nd Ultra I had). Beautiful bike but bulky and a dog and just not fun to ride. I only had 1700 miles on it in 2 years. My wife and I stopped by the dealer one day and she talked me into buying a Road Glide Custom. Now riding is fun again. I had forgotten what it was like and I've put on 2500 miles in 3 months (bad weather). It's great around town and I've changed the bars, shield and seat so it fits me perfect. I went to Sturgis 10 years ago, just too many bikes to enjoy the scenery. Rally's are like xxx-rated movies. If you've seen one you've seen them all.

 

You didn't mention why your wife don't ride with you??? I had a Dyna WG, when I remarried and my wife wanted to ride, we went and looked at Touring bikes. I stood there in horror thinking, I don't want this road sofa.
But I bought it! It's a nice bike for touring solo or two up. I'm on my second one now and love it. Love the fact, I can dress it down if I want to. I probably wouldn't go back if my wife didn't ride, but I'm older and like the comfort. You didn't say how old you are either. Harley makes bikes for almost every rider. The reason I say almost, I thought of the crotch Rocket people

 

I don't get tired of either of my bikes.... I just wish I had some more money for parts.
