To Paint or Not to Paint?

To Paint or Not to Paint?
Considering painted inner fairing and wondering if someone can explain the pros and cons of going with the OEM ones available from MOCO or tearing it down and sending the stock ones to a paint shop. I have a batwing on an 09 SG so that would be inner fairing and switch plate and possibly mirrors.

I ordered mine from Zanotti (saved $140 over my local dealer) because I wanted a perfect matching paint.
Because if it wasn't right, I would be looking at it all the time while riding and that would be a real pisser for me. I'm slightly **** you know. lol
Having said that, I did have a local painter paint my new extended saddle bags and he did a great job.
But I would still buy one from HD. I would do the same, if I did it again too.
I sold my stock inner fairing for "$100 and shipping" in the forums classifieds, to offset the cost of buying a factory one.

Well crap, this forum does it again. I've been on the fence about painting my inner fairing, trying to convince myself that I really don't need to go to the trouble... and now after seeing this newest set of pictures (in above posts), I don't have a choice anymore. Looks great.
Oh, well, now to convince the boss... How many flowers and how much massage time do you guys think equals a color matched inner fairing? Dozen roses and 1 hour? Probably not...

Would an inner fairing from an 06 work on your bike? I am taking mine off later this winter. I took my fairing mirrors off and I didnt want the holes. I used a deeper black then HD uses. My painter said they could get the vivid black if I really wanted it. So if you go the route of having yours painted just be sure its a perfect match.
