You did not indicate front or rear...
My front brake lever developed for lack of better words, not fully returning to the forward position and caused an intermittent brake light flickering situation. Under warranty, the dealer tried to clean it up (prolly sprayed some miracle fix stuff on it) and this did not correct the problem. Next time to the dealer they did what should have been done the first time and disassembled to locate the root cause. They found corrosion of sorts where the master cylinder piston slides in the master cylinder body and caused it to bind and not fully return to the forward position. They replaced the master cylinder assembly under warranty and this corrected my problem.

Whether its front or rear the 99 and earlier bikes have floating calipers. The pins they float on NEED to get lubed at every service or the caliper will not retract. If you look one pad is most likely worn much more than the other. GM Versalube is what you need to use on them.
