Has anybody here left their 2010 Ultra engine and exhaust stock?

I lived in Boulder throughout most of the 80's. Nice place, but I don't miss the snow all that much. Also went for a glider ride out of the Boulder airport once back then. Mrs Boogaloodude used to work for a company called NBI which was located very near the Boulder airport.
Nothing wrong with riding a stock bike. However, being a life-long hot rodder, it goes totally against my grain. Stage I updates are so easy with the fuel injected bikes, and have a big payback. If you do it yourself, it can be done very reasonably. I think I spent all of about 300 bucks doing my stage I, and it probably netted me 8-10 hp and a similar increase in ft/lbs. I didn't dyno the bike before or after, but the butt dyno is very happy, and those are reasonable numbers for a stage I upgrade on a 103. The bike runs cooler and sounds better also. What's not to like? (I would not have paid the dealer to do this, since I can easily do it myself)

Boulder is still a great place overall, although downtown has been modernized with lofts and even more yuppie-oriented shops & stuff. I don't go there anymore.
Anyway, I appreciate your advice about the mods & I'll certainly keep them in mind when the "new" starts to wear off, but I get all the wrenchin' I want/need trying to keep 7 gliders and 3 overworked towplanes all flying, repaired, serviced, inspected etc. so I'm gonna be wanting to just ride it as-is if at all possible.
Fer instance, yesterday one of our towplane's mags decided to fail internally and go about 90 degrees advanced. Torched every valve and broke every ring in the 6 cylinder, 260 HP engine. Nearly didn't get back to the airport. I'm really surprised that it didn't blow at least one of the cylinders completely off of the engine, which normally happens under these circumstances. It's always sumpthin', dammit!!
Great job security for me though.
Stay safe,
John

Hey John,
Picked up a Merlot Sunglo/Cherry Red Sunglo on the 13th and love it. Same as you, rathered the Ultra over the Limited. Paint really pops in the sun. Keep your dust rag with you though, that Melot really pick up the dust. Came up from a Sportster to an Ultra so you can imagine that I think it rides like a dream. The bad thing about this whole deal is that the riding days are limited due to the weather and all I want to do is ride this puppy!! Have managed to put 650 miles on it though. Enjoy

Hey John,
I'm a FNG here, and who would have thought I'd have something to post about already.
I've had my 2010 Ultra Limited about 3 weeks, less than 2 of which the weather has been decent enough to ride (heavy rain and ice I don't do!) Have it in for it's 1000 mile service today. The 103 wasn't the deciding factor in my purchase. The ABS, luggage rack, heated grips, communication set up etc did it for me. Wife wanted those options, and as we all know, a happy wife is a happy life. I have the vivid black/scarlet red. I personally think it's the best looking of the Limited colors.
My only mods were saddlebag guards (like the look), heated seat (been riding in 20 degree weather this month), backrest (I ride 120-250 miles a day when I'm on it) and shorty antennas. As you can see, no performance mods....yet anyway. I've been pleased with it's performance, and since 80% of my riding is highway, louder pipes don't do anything for me. Heat has only been an issue once. Sat in traffic for 30 minutes one time. I was wearing chaps, and before I could feel the heat on my right leg, the Engine Idle Temperature Management System cut in. Engine temp dropped...no problem. Of course, I have been riding in Georgia summer heat yet. Guess I'll decide then whether I want to go with new header without the cats, and a stage 1 kit.
Didn't mean this to be so long...but there it is.

Thanks for taking the time to post all the good info. I like the look of the bag rails too. I think the Limiteds would look much better with them.
Thanks again and ride safe down there,
John

Ripper43 -- Saw your post and pic. I have the same, 2010 FLHTK in same color config. What mods have you made to date besides the awesome extended bags ($$$OUCH), smoke windshield, etc. Interested to see and hear about improvements, pondering stage one related work.
Duke of Earl, same thing, still bone stock? Want to hear about FM 2-1-2 pipe and air cleaner. Thanks peeps!
