Yes, they can be left stock and you will like the bike. A lot of riders like to do many mods to improve the ride and the bike's looks or to make it one of a kind. For me, I've only added items that improve the bike's comfort level, such as backrest, luggage rack, etc. No mods are necessary for you to enjoy a HD Ultra. Like you, I do not want a loud exhaust or the increase in HP that others seek, or a lot more shiny chrome. But thats just me.......I like my stock 08 just fine and log 8-9K per year.

I have not ridden it extremely hot temps so I do not know how the cat exhaust is going to effect the heat coming up to my legs. If this does become an issue, I will either drill out the cat, or buy FuelMoto's headers.
Thanks for your reply but obviously you didn't read the scolding I got from mine for joking with this member that needs internet reassurance that he can leave his bike stock especially after owning 5 Harleys, so refrain from valuable input please before you get corrected, besides, you do not know him either....LOL!.

Thanks guys. I truly appreciate the time you took to post the encouragement and info.

I'll be closing a deal on a Merlot and Cherry Red Ultra today, thanks to all the opinions and help that I've received on this forum.

Thanks again,

John

I changed the bars and seat on my 2010 Road King for comfort.

Everything else is stock. 9000 miles since September, no issues.

Paid cash for the bike, so add ons are going to get done eventually, just doing it all off the plastic.

Yeah, I'll be paying cash too. The bars seem to fit me perfectly though. Just lucky for me, I guess.

Many thanks for the response,

John

Not completely stock, but I like the stock look.....

My mods (which are few) were for practical issues (heat, comfort, etc)

I've left my '96 stock so far and it seems to work just fine. The ONLY additions so far are a 3 pouch thing at the base of the winscreen, Hand grips, Highway pegs and a clutch ramp plate to make the clutch pull easier.
So yes, you can leave them stock and get good service out of them.
