Default Chrome front end kit, install myself vs dealership

Well I finally did it, I went to the dealership, and purchased a new chrome front end kit for my 05 FLHRSI. Not giving installation any previous thought, I inquired on a price with my dealership mechanic, and the bill is going to be $180-$200.00 for installation only. Should I bite the bullet and get the kit professionally installed, or try to do it myself? On a mechanically inclined scale of 1-10 i would say I'm a 6, and I own most tools needed for the install icluding a motorcycle lift. What should i do?

My local shop wanted $400+ to do mine so i too it to a independent shop that was HD certified and it was $165.

I've done my own on both of my bikes but that price isn't bad at all.

I own an impact wrench, and a Clymer service manual. Maybe I will try it.

Toss that Clymer in the trash and get the real deal.
Best $60 bucks you'll spend on your scoot.

+1 on the manual.

Can you do it without a lift?

OP said he has a lift.

OP...one other thing...ALL the bolts on the fork are metric, including the socket cap bolts.

I did my chrome front-end swap, but took the lowers off the bike and had the dealer swap the guts and add the fork oil to the chrome lowers, and reinstalled the assembled lowers. The dealer charged me $100 which was fine because I didn't want to fool with the cartridge in the left lower. You won't have the cartridge since HD didn't put them in Road Kings. The price the dealer quoted seems reasonable, especially if they will do it while you wait.

I gotta laugh everytime I see this. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN HD CERTIFIED INDY. If you dont work at an HD dealer and advertise "HD certified" thier trademark lawyers will be all over you when they find out!
