Thanks for the link.

2 of my sons and I did the Arctic Circle ride last June. We did 8,322 miles in 14 days as one son that lives in Chicago could only get that amount of time off.

I was on an 08 Buell Ulysses, Matt was on a Street Bob and my oldest son was on a BMW similar to the one in the Video. All did a great job with out any service other than a new rear tire on the Street Bob and the Uly.

We timed it to hit the summer soltiste. So when we went the 861 miles from White horse to Fairbanks, it was still daylight when we pulled in at one am.

We did have 12 of the 14 days in cold rain, but the day we went to the Arctic Circle it was sun shine and 60 which was considered a heat wave.

I'm 69 and if I could do it anyone can. I wanted to take my wife there next summer but I can't talk her into it. It is an extraordinary scenic trip. She doesn't ride but I told her that we would go in the 4X4.

I have a few more months to try.

I am planning to ride my Ultra to Alaska from Virginia this June. Would like to go all the way to the Arctic Circle on the Dalton. What do you think about an Ultra on the Dalton? It appears to me if would be OK without rain. Looks like the road gets pretty messy with rain. I am planning for 4 weeks and total trip will be around 12,000 miles.

That reminds me a bit of my college roommate's grandfather. His grandmother died and at the age of 72 his grandfather bought a new harley (this is about 1986-7) and rode to Alaska. His grandfather hadn't owned a motorcycle since he had married his wife (30's?).

Always stuck with me - that was pretty cool.

I just watched the Dave Goes Fast (Salt Flats) video and it's pretty amazing as you say. They rode their bikes there and home fr. NM, one bike w windshield did 129 and then he tweeked it and got 133.7. The Dresser was 127" and he did 138 w windshield and sitting straight up and then he took the windshield off and laying dn and got 147 MPH. Dresser guy did the head work on both bikes and they were the old fashion carb. Now if we could only change the EFI on the fly and get that kind of results w/o needing a dyno. I'm not bitching, just not a big fan of EFI.

I think the purpose of the powercommander 5 with autotune is to do that.

Very cool, really makes me want to go out and put some miles on. I'm not sure if that's the best video to be watching during the winter.
