Dragonfly 6.5" speaker rings
New Year's Day morning I installed the Dragonfly Concepts 6.5" speaker adapter rings along with a pair of Infinity Reference 6.5" speakers. The rings cost $40 shipped:
http://www.dragonflycycleconcepts.com/accessories.htm
Installation was straightforward since the rings come with self-tapping screws (2 sizes) and good instructions.
The rings come pre-drilled with two different speaker mounting hole patterns. I found the pattern I needed and installed the speakers. I don't work fast, but the total project took less than an hour: remove outer fairing, remove OEM speakers and adapters, install rings, install speakers, and install outer fairing.)
The rings and 6.5" speaker swap was NOT done to improve the sound. The change was due to replacing the Sony/Biketronics set-up I had (and served me well for 3+ years/35K miles) with a HD Harman Kardon head unit with CB/Intercom and the HK unit is 2 ohm impedance; the Sony was 4 ohm.
Here are a couple of pics with the rings and speakers installed:

At the same time, I installed Infinity Reference 5.25" 2 ohm impedance speakers in the Hog Tunes fairing lower kit also because the HT speakers I had were 5.75 ohm impedance.
I've ridden about 150 miles with this set-up and I'm pleased. I'm no audiophile; I'm not using an add-on amplifier; and I continue to use the Hog Tunes Hog Pod (tweeters); and I can hear my rock 'n roll music easily at 75 to 85 mph over my Rinehart TD's with an 8" windshield and 3/4 helmet.
The rings cost $40 and the speakers were $58 new per pair from two different internet vendors.
If you are considering 6.5" speakers, I'd recommend Dragonfly for the rings: they shipped promptly; well-packaged; pre-drilled speaker mounting holes; good instructions; easy installation and $40 shipped.

speakers don't seem to fit
I too just recived my pair of sepaker adapters. Got a new pair of Polk Audio DXi650 speakers but the pre-drilled holes everyone is talking about don't line up with the speakers.
Speakers measure exactly the same between all 4 holes, the adapters do not. I measured 110mm between two of the holes on the adapter and about 115mm between the other two. No matter how I line up the speaker, even if I cut the hole into a slot, they still don't line up. Don't know if it's the speakers or the adapters, perhaps a bad batch.
Called Dragonfly and they said they've installed hundreds of these and they use all 4 screws in the speakers. Why don't mine fit? He suggested drilling a new hole, but the adapater actually has a longer sleeve for the screw as part of the mold, so if I drill a new hole, it has very little plastic to hold into.
My opinion, I got a bad batch, or the quality is **** poor.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks for the help.
