A midwest place to take the group?

There is a ton of nice back roads and good places to eat south of Kansas City if you stay off the main Highways. Head south down to Ft. Scott, KS and on down to Oswego, Ks. Stop in Chetopa, KS and get a burger and fries at the Hornet's Nest. Make sure you leave room for a Milk Shake and order a Cherry Limeade with your meal. You could head on down into Oklahoma and weave your way back to St. Louis. There's a great ride down in OK on old 66 I think, never been but grew up i OK and that area of the country is beautiful during the time you want to go.

Try the Loess Hills Scenic Byway in IA. Pick it up on the south end in Hamburg, IA and ride to the north in to Akron, IA. Roughly 220 miles end to end.

Great Thread!! I'm 70 miles east of St Louis, so I'm pickin up lots of ideas myself! How about Garden of the Gods, Cave-in Rock (Home of Hogrock!), and Old Shawneetown (Home of Hogdaddies Saloon!)? All of these are within 30-40 miles of each other and makes a great weekend ride-then on across the river into Kentucky, swing south and do Kentucky/Barclay Lake (Land between the lakes is a beautiful ride also). Then you have the Paducah KY night life along the river if you want.

French Lick, IN and also Nashville, IN areas. Great riding areas and tons of entertainment in addition to that. And of course lots of good eats!

Nashville/Brown County Indiana is also quite the biker friendly area. They have several leather/biker shops there in town. Wherever you go, good luck and be safe!

I've always been partial to Southern Indiana. Head east to New Harmony, Indiana; then east again to Mitchell, Indiana, and Spring Mill State Park; then on into French Lick, Indiana, and the West Baden Spa and Hotel; then onto Brown County State Park near Nashville, Indiana, where you may want to stay at the B and B in Story, Indiana, (pop. 7). Lake Monroe is near there, too. Then on into Indianapolis where a visit to the Speedway and museum is in order. Then west towards St. Louis with a stop at Turkey Run State Park. And then it is a straight shot back to STL. Southern Indiana is just beautiful with quaint little towns and nice twisty secondary roads. I like it. Just my $.02 worth.
