I have not noticed any 5th gear whine as described in some posts. However on some of the very rare "hot" days we get here I have noticed my right leg heating up, especially when slow riding. Still I am happy with the motorcycle, so far. It is running better since I had the 5000 mile service done.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad that you are satisfied with the 2010 as it is a beautiful bike, and the Red Hot SunGlo is a great color. Harley went from the straight cut 5th gear to the helical 5th gear in 2010. This is why you don't notice any gear whine. Both of my 2007 Heritage Softail Classics had the straight cut 5th gear, but the sound never bothered me. All 5 gears of my Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 Classic LT are straight cut, so it all sounds the same. Take care.
