Default I need an inner bearing puller 08 twin cam.

I know this should be in the want to buy section and I posted there too. I am planning the cam and bearing change soon and would buy or rent the inner bearing removal tool. Thanks for any help with the tools.

Go to AutoZone and rent the Blind Spot Puller for free...............you only need it for about 10 minutes so why waste the money on buying a tool.

You give them a deposit, they give you the tool, when you return the tool, they give you your deposit back.

If you don't want to go the Autozone route and want your own, for under $100 total you can buy a puller/installer combo from Gary Beatty at beattygw@scbglobal.net

Just started a cam change myself.
Found Harbor Freight #95987-4VGA Blind hole bearing puller set worked well for me. (now on sale for $32.99)
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95987
Also HF #38145 Bushing/Bearing driver set is pretty universal for installing bearing, seals...
Picked it up for about $14 but their website shows it as not available or discontinued.
This type of bearing driver requires a little more care in aligning bearing w/bore but with a little patience and light taps with the hammer, it can be done with not damage to bearing.
Having a Harbor Freight within 10 miles sure has helped keep the cost of this cam change down for me!!

Freezing the bearing firsts makes it way easier. Light taps until it bottoms out.
The sound will change when it hits bottom. "Tink, tink, tink, tunk". Finished.

I've always had a concern with moisture introduced by freezing a part. Should I be?
I guess with proper pre-lube after install, it sould be a non-factor.

Constant moisture being trapped on a regular basis is cause for concern.
My bet is that the bearing is bone dry long before the cams slip into them.

Also, I never noticed any visible moisture and I have done it enough times on mine or friends bikes.

The metal shrinks just enough to make it a looser fit (still needs some taps, but real light ones).

Can't hurt to leave it in the baggy while freezing it, either.

I remember one winter evening having to account for needles. LOL
Not at all a fun evening! Never have I flushed a motor like that one.
But I did account for every piece of that bearing.

disclaimer: I was not using the puller suggested earlier in this thread, when I destroyed that bearing.
