That's why you have a warranty.

No intension of stealing this thead, but I have a similar concern. I went to a Mustang solo and had the same issue. I was able to rub out most of dull finish, but I have the passenger pillow that I will put on only rarely. The rubber bumpers on the passenger pillow will cause the same issue as the stock seat. I was thinking of glueing some felt to the rubber bumpers to help stop the problem. Has anyone tried this, or does anyone have another suggestion?

I have the same problem where my legs rub the tank and where my sundowner 2up rubs the rear fender when i go to the solo seat. I use mequires Scratch X2.0 hand buffing it cpl times then good wax. It doesn't get it perfect but it makes it hardly noticable unless you have done alot of damage with the seat.

I don't think it'll be a covered issue, HD will say " run the stock seat and you won't see it"...
rubbing compound I guess for me too.

Get you some Wizards Turbo Cut. It is a super fine compound that is safe even in the hands of the inexperienced. It also does good to take off boot melt on pipes.

If you are not comfortable or have used a power buffer to polish I would recommend having the work done.

To protect those areas I have been thinking of something like this.

I just noticed that you ride a 2010. If it is a 2010, you should definitely take it to the HD dealership where you bought it. Unless it just a crappy paint job from the factory, there is no way your area under the seat should look as bad as you describe in just a few months.

Thats what I did except I velcroed the felt to the bottom of the pass pillion. If you take your time to cut it out and double the felt, that pillion wont leave a mark.
