Does anyone know if someone makes a mechanical oil temp dipstick for a late model touring? I don't like the digital readout because I don't think they're accurate and they don't last. Besides that I'm poor and can't afford one.
I guess thats why they have a ambient air temp gauge inside the fairing. We should be more concerned about the air temp inside there.H-D already knows there is friction going on inside the engine and the oil is hot therefore no need to think about the oil temp. Its Hot.LOL
My digital oil temp gauge is over 4 years old and still works great, and is on the original battery. No complaints here about it at all, in my eyes it was a good investment and looks good too.
I use one in my FLHT works fine. As far as oil level goes you have to park on level surface and wait about 2 or 3 minutes to get any accurate level, still better then trying to get a hot drip stick past a bunch of other hot stuff.

I've been looking for an analog dip stick for my 01 RK for a couple years now. I checked the Harley catalogue ,J&P, and various web sites and all they had was the digital. I can afford the digital but I prefer the look of the analog. Good luck with your search and if you find a source please let me know.
