Default Primary tensioner question

I was installing my new BikeTronics stereo on my 2005 RG and while I was waiting for some additional information from BikeTronics I pulled my inspection cover off my primary and noticed that on my tensioner there was a lip of 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch on the outside of the tensioner. My question is is this normal wear? I have about 32k on my bike. Or should I be looking at replacing the tensioner with a self-adjusting? If so, opinions on the better product, the HD tensioner, the Souther Oregon Hot Bikes tensioner or the Hayden M-6 tensioner??
Thanks for your input,
Rick

If replacing, get the Southern Hot Bikes wedge tensioner. On backorder until February though

Wear is normal. The pad is not indestructable. I am going with the new SOHB wedge tensioner. Right now they are on backorder until early February.

to answer your question, yes 1/16-1/8" wear is normal for 32,000 miles.

I put the HD auto tensioner on last year. What makes this one better?

The HD version is spring loaded. The back ordered tensioners are Hydraulic, without the ratchet teeth. Yeah, I have one on order too.
