I also changed to Amsoil at my 1k service on my 09 Road King. This is my first Harley but I have been using Amsoil products in my other hobby for some time.
My other hobby is Giant Scale remote control aircraft. Planes are usually in the 120 inch wing span weighing 28 to 35 pounds. The engines are around a 150cc 2 strokes putting out 22 to 24 horse power. The engines weight around 8 pounds and turn a 28 inch propeller at 5000 RPM. That’s 3 hp per pound.
For the break-in on these motor we use lawn boy 2 cycle for the first 100 hours. You can't use Amsoil from the beginning the motor will never break in. After a 100 hrs we start using Amsoil 2 stroke oil. I have dis-assembled these engines at 3000 hrs and the engine look new inside.
I know it's not a Harley but it is a good comparative on how good this oil is.
I have attached a picture to give you an idea of the size of these planes. The one pictured is performing a maneuver call a torque roll. The plane is stationary, hanging on the propeller at half throttle. The plane will accelerate straight up from this maneuver.

I use Amsoil in all 3 holes on both bikes. 20W-50 in the motors, 75W-90 in the transmissions, ATF in the primaries. So far, I'm not losing any oil anywhere. The bikes run cooler, shifts are smoother, neutral is easier to find. Neither bike is babied.
I was using roughly a quart every 1,000 miles on the Night Train prior to the build, but that was due to the valve guide seals that were a known issue on the '05s.
