Not burning a single drop in 3000 miles! WOW!! Was the bike being towed during those miles??? Maybe in a few more thousand miles, the stuff will begin to reproduce itself!

Just bustin' your chops dude...but a pretty good Amsoil story none the less.

Personally, I would wonder what was going on...the very nature of the internal combustion engine suggests that oil use is common and necessary.

Yeah, I guess I do get the RPM's up there but this being my first HD and coming from years of riding dirt bikes hard I have had some bad habits to break. I should also mention that the only modification I have made that might possibly affect performance is that about the same time I went to Amsoil I installed the Heavy Breather. I only posed this question because I hoped for positive feedback. I am after all my own worse critic.

Actually, I think an engine that's running properly will "use" oil, but not "lose" oil. It just lubricates the engine and collects back down in the oil pan. You may lose a little out the breather, if your level is too high, but you shouldn't have to keep adding oil to an engine. JMHO.

Ride safe!

I went to Amsoil at the 1K change, for both the
engine and the tranny (75-90) and noticed the
amount of engine and gear noise go way down.
NO useage , and yes I check regularly also.

Crankcase = 20-50
Tranny = 75-90
primary = formula+

still considering going to something else
in the primary, but haven't made my
mind up as of yet.

Try the Spectro 6Speed full synthetic. It works.

I would cut back on the RPM'S a little and see if that helps, and pay close attention to how you are checking the oil (warm or cold) and don't add unless it's below add line. You might have been adding too much oil? Also, have someone follow you to see if it is blowing blue smoke at any time. And when you said you used HD oil, I hope you mean dino oil and not sync 3. Sync 3 will leak through the gaskets, but I doubt 1-1 1/2 worth.

as far as amsoil it does what it suppose to do drop temps some and easier shifting. i do know that if u dont warm a evo motor up befor u ride u will be replacing base gaskets. my tech told me when i had my evo the metal on the barrels has to heat up and expand. with the twin cam u just start and let the fluids go up and ride and with any synthetic oil if u have high mileage and then change to syn it will clean your engine so good that the build up of sludge from dino oil around the gaskets will disolve the dino oil build up and will cause a leak it happened to me and i was told this by my tech also. and it happened on my car to as far as amsoil is concerned it is the best synthetic but alot of people like mobil 1 which is a good syn also. i use 20/50 in all 3 holes and i like it. jus my 2 cents

I've been using Amsoil on my Road King since 10,000 miles. 20-50 in all three engine, primary and tranny. I don't lose any oil what-so-ever.....other than the occasional blow by. Everything runs cooler and so much more quite. If you're using that much oil, something is definitely wrong.

I am running Syn3... can't find Amsoil here in Germany (haven't really looked to honest though) and can't ship from the states (w/out excessive cost). Just before my 5K I was at the add a quart mark (hot).
