i just held back with my finger, not hard to do and drilling doesnt take much. also pulled the pins from the hinges and seperated the lid from the base.

Four Ultra's and never noticed just how ugly my hinges are... thanks, now I need another gift card or two. No .pdf instructions listed at the H-D website, though.

For you guys with Tour Packs who need more luggage capacity take a look at the new T Bags Bra and Boot Bag combo, I just bought this for my bike. My Tour Pack has no luggage rack on the lid (my choice) but this allows a bag to be fastened to the lid. Good thinking!

Why would they include them standard when they know we'll buy them for $50?

BTW, for those contemplating the upgrade, it helps to have someone provide and extra hand to hold things while you drill out the rivets. I did it alone and it was a PITA.

Although I can't say from personal experience, I have heard that they do fit the cop saddlebags. Same hinges, apparantly.

Cool thread - I got a set for Xmas. Just finished drilling out my rivets last night. Had no problems with the rubber trim - just held it back while I drilled. Took out the tour pak liner and everything went fine & quick. Will have the hinges on tonight after work. Indeed they look much better than the crappy stock hinges.

Had 'em installed on my TP last Spring. Looks 1000 times so much better than the original factory ones, Yucky.
