Angry Chrome Plating Aluminum Wheels a Bad Idea?

I see the 2010 Ultras have chrome plated wheels and they look good. I wonder if any of you had problems with chrome plated aluminum wheels leaking air? I have a Cadillac that has them and they leak air because over time the chrome cracks creating small fissures that let the air slowly leak out an dit's a real pain.

Ride well,

Jim

I suspect that your leak problem is the result of a poor chrome plating job rather than a factor of being aluminum wheels! I have had several aluminum car wheels chrome plated and presently have chrome plated aluminum wheels on my TG and never had a problem with any of them cracking or leaking air!

I had the chrome Skull n' Flame solid HD wheels on my Fatboy, they never leaked air. Got chrome alum. wheels on my Town Car, no leaks. Maybe you had porosity in your Caddy wheels from a bad casting etc.
