Cam Project Day 3

Hello all,
I know it is an old thread but !
I followed step by step instruciton and I am stuck at the bearing replacement stage .
The garry beatty tool is confusing me. I removed the old bearing very easylly but, to put the new ones in the bore seems impossible.
I used plenty of oil and assembly lube with the new bearing and I can't get the bearing fully in place. They fit in but stay outside by 2 or 3 mm, even when hammering with some repetition and force...
Any ideas?
I already tryed to freeze the bearings for half an hour, did not help.

The Beatty tool bearing pilot will sink the bearing a pre-determined distance into the bore. The bearing is not supposed to be flush with the case - it sticks out slightly. The bearing is installed correctly so stop and walk away! If you pulled a new bearing out after you installed it, or hit it with considerable force then consider replacing the bearings just in case you damaged them.

The Beatty tool countersinks them about .005", and I had no problems getting mine in. Same for a friend's '09 I did a year later. I would pull those bearings and replace them just as a precaution, and let the new ones sit in the freezer for a while before tapping them in. I don't see a reason to buy a new bearing tool.
