Anyone runnin a 18" rear with a 200tire 09& up?
Hey guys, I have gotten different info on this subject....
Fatbaggers told me if I run a 200 tire on my 2010 SG I have to go to a 17" wheel.
EasternPerformance told me I can run a 200 with a 17" or 18" wheel with no issues.
I have no problem with either size but the 17" wheel is on back order until the 17th of Jan! The 18" is available now so I'm leaning that way because of the availability but want to make sure I wont have any issues with the 18" wheel rubbing. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I do plan on lowering the bike 1" in the rear also!

I did a 200 on a 18 rim and had a serious wobble issue at 75+ mph-it could have been a bad tire; I dont know -others have done this and not had a problem. The 200 on a 18 rim is very close to the inner fender rail -- my fender rail was not precise and one side was about 1/4 inch from the tire. I went back to a 180
If I could do all over again I would go with the 17 6.5 rim with a 200 tire -- Fatbaggers has been doing the wide tire on baggers for a while now.

I couldn't answer if you will have any issues with height...so, I don't want to speculate. Yes, I have a 200/50-18. No issues, that I'm aware of.

A good friend that works at a local dealer that called me up to come look at bike they had in the shop. It was close to the house so I drove over to take a look. I was expecting to see some kind of bad *** bike but instead I saw a SG all torn down on a lift. I'm always talking to my friend about a 200mm on an 18" wheels and he keeps telling me not to do it. I always thought he was just full of it. Apparently the 200mm and 18" rear on this bike ripped out the rear wiring harness and damaged some other things. He told me if I do it go with a 180mm tire. I don't know the whole story behind how it happened but he said the owner was riding two up when it happened. I still want an 18" rear but maybe I'll stick to the 180 because its no even and inch difference. This may be an isolated incident but with my luck I would be the second one ever.

this can happen with any tire if you overload the rear or run it too low ...that being said, I run a 200 with an 18" no issues here
