I bought the bags and tourpak they advertise when I had my metric cruiser. The quality was ok but not great. They are always lighter weight and not nearly as strong as the OEM products.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but just about every add on part I get from Harley-F'in-Davidson is made in China.
Excpet to the ones made in Taiwan.
I have had it with over priced aftermarket stuff. If I could make a wheel I would. $1500 for a set of wheels for a motorcycle will get you four for a car. Stop buying it and make it your self till the prices come down.
who cares. so many people are brand loyal... i stopped in the harley shop the other day and saw HD leather jacket with an american flag on it... $300,.. take a guess what te label on the inside said.. "MADE IN CHINA" i say by the "knock off" and save money
the original ones are probably made in China to begin with.
I can tell you that the all the OEM and P&A touring detach backrests are made right here in the good old USA. I work for the company that manufactures these and they are made from solid 5/8" round bar and 1/8" thick coil steel.
The backrests were made out of tubing around 10 yrs ago, but not anymore.
So if its new and made out of tubing then its a knock off. You will be able to tell right away by the weight if its tubing or solid bar.
I would also say that if they are brand new on eBay and not selling from a eBay HD dealer then they are probably knock offs also.
