Default Leather or vinyl???

Looking for a new seat, actually a C&C, possibly the Sport Tour but I guess I need to talk to them as I want to make sure I get what will put me as far forward as possible yet offer lower back support. I say far forward as I am 5'9" and recently put new barss on my bike (forget which one but a fat bar so my wiring could go inside). I now wish I would have gotten one that came back farther but having just prior to that replaced my cables with stainless braided so did not want that expense again. What are opinions of leather versus vinyl?

Leather is going to give you longevity as far as the life of the seat. Other than that, it is what you prefer as far as style.

I have a C&C sport tour seat. I have leather and have probably around 40,000 miles on it and it is still looking good. Leather is much more comfortable then vinyl as it breaths and breaks in nicely. I got plain leather because I ride in the rain and did not want to worry about the stiching letting water in. I have never treated my seat with any kind of leather treatment and it still seems to repel water. If I am stuck in the rain for long periods and am off the bike I try and cover it with a plastic garbage sack.

The sporttour as it comes from C&C actually moves you back and down. It is a little longer reach to the bars for me and I am ~5'10". I am guessing if you talk to Chuck he can make it so it is closer to the bars.

I had 3 C&C vinyl seats. GRREAT seats . I went with leather this time because it breathes better and it is more supple. It is really a personal matter of choice. Gotta be careful more so w leather about getting it wet, but other than that I prefer it/

I've been riding with leather seats for the last 20 years, and it's really the way to go. You'll allow the seat to breathe and it will be much more comfortable, especially in hot weather. Minimal maintenance as well, and it always looks good.

Leather is cooler & this Corbin Classic Solo will move you about an inch closer, back rest helps too. I had a Corbin Close Solo on an '05 RK and it was perfect so I ordered the same for an '08 StreetGlide and it was like I was sitting on the tank so I returned it ($100 shipping charge) and got the regular, Corbin Classic Solo and it is fine.

I like the looks of that seat but wondering if my pillion will match up to it or will I need another of those as well? I still have the stock seat.

If you mean a HD pillion with a Corbin Solo seat I don't know. Corbin might be able to answer that question.

I'd argue the opposite - I've had both on numerous bikes over 30 years. Leather will afford you a very comfortable riding experience; let's face the facts; it's the skin of a cow. steer. etc. it has natural pores and "breathes"

If you want longevity and durabilty, go with "pleather" - C&C seats are awesome - I've put 15K on my C&C Sport Tour - hands down the best saddle I've ever sat in (not on).

Chuck @ C&C will treat you right - tell him Boogie from HD Forums sent you and he will knock 10 % off the price.

Leather rips easily, water is an enemy and it will eventually crack and rip, just like your hide...If you don't ride much, go with leather - if you ride a bunch (I average 18K/yr) go with vinyl.
