I wired my 660 into the battery with inline fuze. Works great, stays on even when I turn the ignition switch off. Had a two way plug already attached to the battery for a battery changer.
I wanted to remove the power cradle for security reasons and also to use it on another bike.
I ran a Powerlet harnesss from the battery, through the cable tray under the tank and into the fairing. I replaced the OEM lighter socket with a Powerlet socket. With the Ram Mount, I can remove the cradle and 550, unplug it and have a clean looking setup when I'm not using the GPS. Another advantage is that the Powerlet cord for the GPS has a 90 degree plug so there is no interference with the tank with the handlebars full left.
I am wiring my 660 now and am trying to wire it the way the instructions say to. This is starting to turn into a pain in the A$$. Has anyone wired it into the fuse box the way the instructions say or am I better to just wire to the battery?
go to Harley D web site...go to accesories...find the GPS in catalog....download installation instructions.....harness connects to 29B on a streetglide. have to remove outer fairing....if mounted on handlebars follow clutch cable...fairing mounted...drilled hole through the mount
Kuryakyn outlet with a RAM ball - works great... I ran the wires through the nacell under the dash and connected it to the open accessory line under the seat.
I use the Harley mount and wired it straight to my battery. That way the GPS doesn't shutoff every time I stop the bike to check a route or take a quick break.
