Default Cyclesmiths install question

Took my bike and bars to local indy shop to have my bars installed on my SG. Talked to him today and he told me he had to cut and solder my "fly-by-wire" to get it through the bars. Is this normal???

Thanks in advance..

Blake

I would think it depends on the ID of the bars. From what I've read, there are extensions made for FBW and some are soldered and some are plug extensions. If they needed to extend only a half dozen inches or so, I could see them doing a solder job.

I wouldn't worry about it.

There is a big green connector on the FBW that makes it hard to get it and switch housing wires both through, with the Cycle Smiths that are 1 1/4" its doable but there is a possability that the connector can seperate. Taping it real tight with electrical tape has proven to work just fine.

Harley has a extended wiring twist grip sensor (p/n 32310-08 $89.95) that does not have the connector and has the heated grip wiring extended also so its easier to add them later.

I did my apes when they first came out and at the time this was the only option

Cant wait to ride it though. Tomorrow's another day....
