Default SE 255 cams - SE clutch spring required??

I changed out the cams on my 96" 07 Ultra in October. Based on a couple of comments here, I decided not to put the SE clutch spring in. I think I only saw one comment about the clutch slipping due to higher torque.

I haven't had any problems yet, but would like a little more confidence before the spring touring season starts. I know a lot of you have made this cam only change and would like to hear from you if you HAVE or HAVE NOT had any issues with the clutch after the mod.

Thanks

I changed mine...It's less than a 30 dollar part and the clutch sure feels good,(to me anyway), and a lot more positive.
I did not give it a chance after the cam change. If anyone would have trouble it would be me. The bike will go 1300+ pounds with all our stuff on it for a weeks trip,(including us)

Mark

Had it on my 07 RKC with SE 103 and HQ 500 cam
Have it on my 09 UC with HQ 107 package
Like it so much I out it on my stock Dyna

I feel it gives a better control in the friction zone and slow speed manuvering, and its cheap. Get the med strength one

I didn't know they made them in different strengths. I thought it was just the one heavy duty spring that made the clutch pull feel like the earlier TC's. I do like the easier clutch pull on my 07 compared to that of my 03.

I put in Andrews 26's and had no issue with the stock spring. I don't do burnouts, nor do I ride two up very often. At any rate, if you are the average rider, cams only probably won't require the heavy spring. I did it plus an AIM VP clutch plate for my big bore upgrade, but not for cams only. Iclick has the 255's only and I think he's still on the stock spring, but I may be mistaken.

Just 255 cams and a D&D , 97ft.lbs. haven't noticed any slippage! Just with cams though I have noticed the starter working a little harder and a occasional bask lash! With these cams a high torque starter would be a must going to bigger bore and compression!

Thanks for the feedback so far. Thabull, about how many miles do you have on your SE 255's? I've only got about 1,500 since I did mine in October (Damm MN riding season!).

I have 5000 mi since the 103 upgrade. Rode the Dragon and the Skyway 2 up and fully loaded and have had no problem w/ the stock clutch. I may eventually install the SE spring but for now it's not on my list.
