Oldest rider to buy a new Harley - and ride over 5000 miles a year
#41
62 and have been doing just under 20,000 miles per year on my Ultra. Would be more but we only have a 5 month riding season and I still have to squeeze work in there somewhere.
Have some more cross country trips planned for the next few years along with a bunch of week/10 day trips in the western states. Would love to do a trip down to the tip of South America but probably need a different bike for that trip.

What I'm going for here is at what age are riders still thinking to themselves - sure damn it - I'm good for another (new) bike. Used works too. Still riding something they've owend for 10 years doesn't quite get to the attitude aspect.

Thanks for the kind words.. He's 82 now and I did have on the back of mine twice this year. My mom also got a ride this year and she's 83. I hope to do it again next year a bit more often

Over 71 and riding CVO Ultra 15K year
This is my pops and he'll be 72 soon and we have ridden together since I was 8 either dirt or street. And he still rides a XR650 Baja bike when we ride Enduro. These are some pics from our trip from home in the N.O. La. area to Sedona,Grand Canyon,Hover Dam,Vegas,Morrow Bay up Hwy 1 to Monterey and back to L.A. ,Palm Springs,San Antonio to back home. Were both retired so riding Harley's and touring is about all we do. So 15k a year comes easy + all the dirt miles-man can my Dad ride. Age is only a number, and no one ever ages or gets old on the inside,so ride on!

Well, I'm only 35 but my dad is 71. He bought an '08 Electra Glide Standard in June of 2008. He put 14,000 miles on it and then in June of 2009, he totaled it. A mini van tried to do an illegal U-Turn across a four lane divided highway. He t-boned the van at 55 mph. The FLHT was totaled and he broke his left wrist, right ankle, three knuckles on his left hand, three ribs, and had road rash on several places on his body.
Good news is, he just purchased a 2010 Ultra Classic to replace the FLHT. He's still not up to riding it yet but he's doing good. I rode it home for him the Saturday after Thanksgiving. He did ride it around the block long enough to pose for some pictures.
I've attached a picture of one tough old man.
