Default Painting my police elctra glide flat black?

Is the denim color that harley sells the same as your typical flat black? I am looking to paint mine with john deere blitz black (sort of a satin flat black paint that is really cheap).

Also do you think I should paint all the hardware on the bags (e.g. hinges, locks, etc) with the flat black or try to mask them off?

I have read that the John Deere Blitz Black is so close to the Harley denim that you won't be able to tell the difference.

As for the hardware, yes,.. paint it all black! Murder that sumbitch out.

I painted mine this summer with one of the hot rod flat kits. About $70 for the kit. You need chrome hardware. I also put night train emblems on the tank. I can post pics this weekend if anyone is interested.

Hell if you're looking to go cheap why not forget the masking paper and tape, get yourself a good 3/4" nap roller of course you're going to need a 3" & 9" width and go to town. Paint the guages, headlight, seat and anything else that gets in the way....WTF

The locks are easily removed so take them off; no more than two minutes per lock. As for the rivet mounted backing plates, mask them--I've seen them painted and they look bad. The hockey pucks are easy to remove; just use a large flat blade screwdriver to knock the pin out.

Good luck with your project.
