Default Where to wire to...............................

Guys, I have an '06 EGC, and I have Sirius Radio hooked up with the power coming from the cigarette lighter plug-in. I want to free that up and hard wire the radio. Where do I need to tap into??

Thanks

You could do a couple of things. Easiest would be to take off the outer fairing and tap into the power to the cigarette lighter plug. The better way would be to run a fused lead from the battery. There should be small plug labeled B+ under the seat of your bike, in the area in front of the battery tray. It will be a red 12 gauge wire with a white plastic plug on the end. That can be hooked up to the Adapter HD sells, or you can just buy the plug and run your own wire. The plug is like $2.50 or so, run a fused wire under the gas tank to the fairing and you're in business.

Electrical Accessory Adapter

Harness accommodates the addition of multiple electrical accessories to the main battery power circuit on '04-later models.

70270-04

Fits '04-later XL, XR, DynaŽ, SoftailŽ and Touring models.

MSRP US $15.95

I have my GPS hardwired through the unused HDI connector at the back of the headlight. If you pull the outer fairing off you will see to connectors (ground and 12v) that are not used. Tap into there.

Make sure your Sirius radio uses a full 12v, some of the new ones only use 4-6v and the cig. lighter adapter knocks it down.

I have a Sirius Starmate Replay(uses 12v) that I did exactly what Dawg said, and it works great.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is the "switched" lead under the seat 12v's?
Looking to hardwire my GPS into it. Then step it down to 5v. I'm also assuming its got a fuse in the box already?
I'd like to be able to switch it on and off.

Yes it's 12 volts and I believe it's on a 15amp fuse.My Zumo calls for a 2amp fuse, the Sirius radio 2amp and the power point I mounted on the fairing I stuck in a 10amp fuse all coming out of a little waterproof fuse box I made under the left side of the fairing.

I assume the headlight one goes on and off with your switch like your headlight or is it hot?
Thanks.
