Default Is there an increase of air flow with true duals?

Just curious.

Still working on my map analysis spreadsheet.

I've been basically comparing all the maps of the PCIII and All the maps of the Fuelpak, and trying to determine how each manufacturer arrives at the specific values for each given setup.

There's one variable that would help me out.

I need to know if true duals would put a greater fuel demand on the bike?

This would typically be true if true duals added increased air flow.

Twisting the throttle IS what increases air/fuel flow. Again, it all comes down to the tuning of the bike & the AFR. I consistently get 200+ miles per tank with my set-up. A bike will run okay if set richer than required, but fuel economy will suffer.

I would say they add more air flow, just looking at the basic design it makes sense.

Each cylinder gets it's own exhaust pipe, and with the Rineharts it's stepped for added flow, and then a muffler for each one.

Just my observations.

Steve is right, it should increase the flow, especially if you install a better air filter with the dual set up, I installed a dual set up after I dynoed my bike, it started to run much leaner, heck, I had to take it back and we had to richen it up, bike runs real good now.

Unless you do some head work to get better flow, the stock heads are only going to flow so much air through them, no matter how big an air filter you put on it or the size of the pipes out the exhaust. From what I've read on here, regarless of the "type" of after market pipes, assuming you have an improved airflow filter setup, you will still tune out at around 40mpg give or take, usually higher. The tuner will control how long the injectors stay open, which will change your gas mileage depending on how it's tuned. Some back pressure on the exhaust is required, not sure on the balance here, I'm not a tuner, but on non-turbo engines some back pressure is needed, most higher end pipes know this and have designed that into their pipes.

Ok,,,,,
This is it in a nut shell..... An engine is nothing but an air pump. With changing the filter and pipes you increase air flow by reducing resistance. This isn't rocket science.... But there was a good point mentioned about head work. Yes you are correct in the fact that valve work can increase flow again by reducing resistance... One problem with air pumps is the turbulence that is created. If you can reduce that your efficiency increases and you have a better pump hence a better motor / more power.

Ok you all made me think on the weekend.. damn you all.... [8D]

No. I'm not touching my bike.

I chose to invest a little time to learn more about the various maps available. Just a little extra reading on my part.

My bike is running beautiful. Not touching it.
