I had the same concerns when I was considering a recurved shield for my EGC. I finally settled on a Windvest screen. The first screen I selected was the 6 inch height. While this was a cool looking height and did a decent enough job of keeping the wind out of my face, the noise level across my ears made hearing the radio a real chore. I contacted Windvest the same day after doing a full day test ride of about 200 miles with the 6 inch shield and letting them know I wasn't quite happy. They immediately sent out the 8 inch shield and only charged me an additional $10 difference in price. I sent back the 6 inch shield and now I am much happier. I am 5' 8'' tall and the 8" shield comes to about chin level on me sitting on a stock seat (just a little reference info). Good luck and happy hunting.

I use a 8" Clearview (I know you asked about other brands) but this shield can't be beat, people bitch about what they cost but they are far cheaper than a lot of brands and the quality can't be beat.
The only thing I would advise is getting a little taller shield unless you are REAL short, I'm 5'10" and the 8" is just tall enough for me.

Just ordered a Clearview 9.5", smoked with recurve for my '09. $80 including shipping since it was a "blem". As I've read others feedback...I doubt I'll find what they called a "blem". No way to go wrong with that deal. Call Clearview and order!

As others also noted...they have great customer service. Very impressive these days.

I have the 8" from Long Ride on my SG and it's perfect for being able to see over the shield and still have the wind reflect over.

Also, check of the 3 panel pouch from t-bag that is contoured for the stock 4" shield. Looks good!

Like I said, I had a tall Clearview that I sold (too tall) and I also have a lower Long Ride. I'm not saying the quality of the Clearview can be beat but what I'm saying is that it can be matched. The Long Ride is as well made as the Clearview and it is at least 30% cheaper. That's a fact. Also, when you order a Long Ride, you get it in 3 or 4 days, not 5 or 6 weeks. That's also a fact.

LRS is better quality than Clearview, much cheaper and fast shipping. And that's a FACT.

Well I will find out soon enough. I checked out the LRS web site and from comments I went ahead and bought the 6". If your looking for one they are on sale right now at LRS for $79. Glad I took a look today, saved myself a some money. I was going to wait till I got home again, but I like to save a dime when I can.
