Default Help with Brakes

I recently had my 20,000 mile check. At that time, the dealer installed new rotors on the front because the rotors were warped. They did not install new pads. Said I didn't need them. Now when I have the bike on the lift I can't spin the front wheel. When I ride the bike it seems to ride fine although mileage has gone from 44 to 33. But I can't turn the front wheel with my hand. I can spin the back wheel. SHOULD I be looking for a new dealer? By the way I did take it back and they looked at it and said it was fine.

If you can't do the work yourself, yes.

Get a new dealer or learn how to repair them yourself, that front wheel should be able to be rotated with easily with 1 finger when off the ground.

The pistons are not retracting and releasing the pads from the rotor. This could be the reason your original rotors warped!

Had that problem on my old 98 FLHRCI.Took it back to have it fixed with the same result so I decided to fix it myself.I drained all the fluid and pressed the pistons in fully,be sure to take the top off the resvoire and cover with a towel. It will shoot out or run down the bars.Update to dot4 brake fluid if its not already and you'll need to install the new fluid from the caliper to the bars with a pressure style bleeder, while runnin the fliud up work the brake lever to help the air out the lines and push out any dirt that may be causing the calipers to stick.Hope thats helpful to ya.

Like the guy said, the caliper pistons are not retracting in their bores and that is what warped the rotors.

Your problem is probably due to corrosion on the exposed piston outer sleeves. I'm thinking your dealer saw it and that is why they didn't replace the pads because they saw they would have to compress the pistons and then the corroded area on the pistons would then cause them to leak.

Find you a new dealer. Better yet, learn to do it yourself unless the bike is under warranty.

You need new calipers, period. You may also now need new rotors again if they too have warped due to heat from dragging.
